　　Roald Dahl was born in 1916 in Wales of Norwegian parents. He began writing after a 'monumental bash on the head', sustained as an RAF pilot during WW2. Roald Dahl is one of the most successful and well-known of all children's writers. His books include CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, THE BFG and MATILDA. Roald Dahl died in 1990 at the age of seventy-four.

Roald Dahl is now c***idered one of the most beloved storytellers of our time. Although he passed away in 1990, his popularity continues to increase as his fantastic novels, including James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The BFG, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, delight an ever-growing legion of fans.

　　Quentin Blake is a well-known artist whose work has made him popular on both sides of the Atlantic. He has illustrated most of Roald Dahl’s children’s books as well as many others. He lives in London, where he teaches illustration at the Royal College of Art.

　　昆汀·布莱克(Quentin Blake) 是当代英国儿童文学界负盛名的插图画家和作家，2013年新年，80岁的他被授予爵士爵位。

　　他于1932年出生，16岁时出版了本画集，中学毕业以后，进入剑桥的唐宁学院学习英文专业。在服过兵役以后，先后进入了伦敦大学和切尔西艺术与设计学院进修硕士文凭课程。

　　早期他的插画工作多是为成人杂志、书籍，直到1960年才开始与文字作者合作，投入儿童图画书的插画工作。1968年昆汀有了部自写自画的作品《派克的小提琴》。1981年，他自写自画的作品《光脚丫先生》（Mister Magnolia）荣获英国图书馆协会所颁发的凯特·格林纳威奖。1999年对他而言更是实至名归的一年，成为英国位儿童文学桂冠作家（Children’s Laureate），2002年又获得国际儿童读物奖项：国际安徒生大奖，此外，他还获得过惠特布雷德奖、波隆那国际儿童书展*童书奖等。
